Salt Spring Island

This District seems to be progressing rapidly. Most of the settlers have very fair crops, some of them, indeed, remarkably fine ones. There is now upwards of 100 head of cattle on the Island. Almost all the known parts have been pre-empted, but there are portions that have not been explored which we think will turn out to be good. It is a great pity that there has been so much mismanagement with regard to the land tenure on the part of the Government, for had it been brought forward at all by its representative, who has evidently forgotten all about it, the Island would undoubtedly have been one of the mots promising agricultuaral districts on the Pacific.
